JUDGES
The NZDE Management Committee is proud to announce the judges for the 2012 All New Zealand Show, their industry expertise, reputation and knowledge of cattle will provide for spectacular viewing.
For the 2012 Event, we have one Canadian, two from the United States, three from Australia and one from New Zealand.
FMG – HOLSTEIN FRIESIAN BRED – ALL NEW ZEALAND SHOW

The judge of the FMG – Holstein Friesian Breed - All New Zealand Show hails from Canada and has a lifetime in the Dairy Industry and the Holstein Breed.
Brian Carscadden of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, was born and raised on a registered Holstein farm in eastern Ontario and graduated from the University of Guelph with a bachelor of science in agriculture degree in May of 1994.
Upon graduation, Brian was hired as a sire analyst for United Breeders of Guelph, Ontario. Prior to his A.I. career, Brian enjoyed many successes as a professional dairy cattle fitter, preparing cattle for top breeders world-wide.
Brian’s judging assignments have taken him to 20 different countries around the world, which include National shows in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Guatemala, CostaRica, Holland, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Australia. Brian has also judged at many state, provincial and county shows thoughout North America. In 2006 he was the associate judge at the Royal Winter Fair Holstein Show and the official judge of the Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo in 2008.
He then officiated the 2009 Royal Red & White Show and the WDE Red and White show in 2010. Brian also judged all the breeds in 2009 and 2010 at the Swiss Expo in Lausanne, Switzerland and recently officiated at the 2011 Royal Holstein Show in Toronto, Canada.
A promoter of youth in agriculture, Brian remains active with various youth programs, speaking engagements and by promoting youth involvement in the annual Semex Alliance Walk of Fame at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and World Dairy Expo, which he helps to coordinate.
Brian and his wife Linda live in Guelph with their 3 children Craig, Lauren and Colin.

FMG – JERSEY BRED - ALL NEW ZEALAND SHOW

The judge for this year’s FMG – Jersey Breed - All New Zealand Show resides in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia and comes to the NZDE with very high credentials as a leading judge of the Jersey breed.
Brian Wilson with his wife Vicki own and manage their dairy farm at Tamworth in NSW, which is home of Shirlinn Jerseys. The home farm consists of 80HA with 80HA leased next door. They also own another 80HA close by and recently purchased a 180HA farm 20KM
from home. The herd consists of 210 Jerseys milking all year round, the couple also run a successful lucerne hay business.
Brian has judged in all states of Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide as well as State Feature Shows.
The Shirlinn Stud has been successful for many years including Premier Breeder and Exhibitor NSW State Show for the last 4 years.

FMG – AYRSHIRE BRED – ALL NEW ZEALAND SHOW

Steve McDonald of Princeton, Illinois, USA, is a dairy consultant and owner of Mackayr Farm along with his wife, Deb. He is a lifelong breeder of Registered Ayrshires. The Mackayr prefix has been tied with many All-Americans, national show winners and production leaders, as well as topping sales across the United States.
Steve is an experienced dairy cattle judge. His judging assignments over the past several years have been prestigious, including Ayrshire national shows at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, and the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts. His international judging credits include shows in Canada, Colombia,
South Africa and Australia.
He has served as a Director of the U.S. Ayrshire Breeders’ Association for many years and at present time is the organization’s National President.

FMG – COMBINED BREDS – ALL NEW ZEALAND SHOW

Allan Clark, a third generation dairy stud breeder from Lismore on the north coast of NSW. With his wife Julie and daughter Shannon run a family business with their Guernsey Stud “Sunny Valley”.
Judging of dairy cattle has taken Allan to many places. He has been the judge twice at both the Sydney Royal and the Adelaide Royal’s also the Toowoomba Royal and more recently the 2011 Melbourne Royal and also has been accepted to judge at the Sydney Royal again next year. In Queensland he has adjudicated at five State Feature shows as well as doing the Supreme All Breeds judging (one judge) at Beaudesert and Gympie shows, has been an over judge at judging schools and judging at numerous country shows throughout NSW and Queensland.
Sunny Valley has had great success over a twenty seven year period exhibiting at the Brisbane and Toowoomba Royal shows, winning many major awards. The Stud also supports the local shows including the Dairy Spectacular held at Lismore.

SEMEX – ALL NEW ZEALAND YOUTH SHOW

Lynn Lee of Smyrna, Tennessee, USA, is a lifelong registered dairy cattle breeder with wide-ranging experience as an auctioneer, also a type evaluator for the American Jersey Cattle Association and show judge.
His judging assignments over the past several years have been prestigious, including national shows for many breeds at the World Dairy Expo at Madison, Wisconsin; All-American Dairy Show at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts; Western National in Puyallup, Washington; and the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. He has also traveled to Colombia, Finland, Guatemala, Ireland and South Africa to judge national shows in those countries.
Lynn and his family operate a 525 acre farm and have, over the years, bred numerous All-Americans and Reserve All-Americans bearing their Lee’s Dixieland prefix. He has also has also been associated with a family-owned full-service auction company that is engaged in all aspects of dairy cattle sale management.
Lynn served as a Director of the U.S. Ayrshire Breeders’ Association for 10 years, and was up until most recently, the organization’s National President.

SEMEX – YOUTH TEAM CHALLENGE

Chris Berry married to Julie is Operations Manager for Wairarapa Moana Farms in Mangakino 40 kilometres North West of Taupo. Where he oversees 13 dairy farms milking 10,000 cows. Last season 9,000 cows produced 400kg per cow and over 1,100kg per hectare on Central Plateau pumice. Previous to this role Chris was the Operations Manager at the Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre in the Wairarapa.
Chris registered the Rimutaka Holstein stud in 1992 which was dispersed in 1997 but Chris kept an interest in Holstein Friesian cattle which he has shown with success at shows across the North Island.
A senior Holstein judge he has judged at the South Island Holstein Champs and the North Island Royal Event Show at Levin. He has also judged the Semex on Farm challenge in four of the Nation’s regions.
Chris has a passion for the dairy industry and particularly the Holstein breed; he is committed to encouraging youth and is always keen to pass on his knowledge to the next generation.
Chris will also be the Tie Judge in the All Breeds Section.

Matt Templeton was raised on a registered Holstein farm in Victoria, Australia. He now resides in Tasmania with his partner Lisa, where they operate View Fort Holsteins and Linsand Farms on Lisa’s 700 acre family farm.
Matt graduated from The World-Wide College of Auctioneering in Iowa, USA and has worked as a professional dairy cattle fitter for the past 12 years. This work has taken him across Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Brazil and Germany where he has prepared,
showed and owned numerous All-Australian’s and Grand Show Champions. Most recently owning the 2009 and 2011 IDW Supreme Champions: Avonlea Robthom Connie and Fairvale Morty Lady.
Matt has judged at shows in three states of Australia and also in New Zealand. He is regularly assisting with and promoting youth activities throughout Australia.
